Get the patient perspective for a complete understanding of the entire process
At sculpt cosmetica, we want to help educate our patients to make the right decisions – for them. To help you in your research, we have spoken with a past breast augmentation patient to give you the patient perspective through a weekly blog series. Over the course of this weekly series, we will discuss popular issues including the concerns, implant shape, the recovery and the longevity of the implant. If you are considering or have ever considered undergoing breast augmentation surgery, you don’t want to miss out on this series.
Our patient had been considering this surgery for quite some time before she eventually made the decision to make an appointment. Does this sound familiar for you too?
When asked why she was reluctant to begin with, she described how busy she was at the time. “I didn’t know a lot about day surgery. I just assumed that for breast implants you’d have to go into hospital and go under and take days. I really never took the time to research anything.”
Breast augmentation surgery can be performed in a day surgery under IV sedation rather than general anaesthetic. This means patients can be home in their own beds the night of their surgery with no need to stay at the hospital if you choose not to. Downtime and recovery will always depend on individual circumstances. However, as a general rule we usually only ask patients to take 5-7 days off from work for recovery and to avoid heavy lifting for at least 3 weeks afterwards.
Cost is usually a major factor considered by patients before undergoing elective surgery. We do keep this in mind when pricing our procedures and offer payment plans through Mac Credits to make payment as easy as possible
Our patient’s thoughts on cost changed after her procedure, “the funding side does not worry me anymore because it was worth it. I’d do it all again if I had the chance. I’d make that decision again.”
“I was concerned about just being sedated rather than going under. But when I got here you guys were very easy to talk to and very compassionate about those kinds of things, and I actually found the whole experience very easy really.”
Fear and concerns about surgery are very common. We recommend making an appointment to discuss your individual concerns with one of our cosmetic surgeons. This is the best way to have an accurate understanding of the risks involved with your individual situation. At sculpt cosmetica, we always aim to make all of our patients feel as comfortable as possible and will spend as much time as your need preparing and answering questions before you make a decision.
